Superintendent
I have enjoyed my 40 years in education from working with amazing staff, helping to guide student achievement, and mentoring new administrators through the Kansas Educational Leadership Institute. After receiving my Bachelors of Arts at Friends University, I taught art and ELA, coached at the middle and high school level in the Wichita Public Schools. I completed my Master’s degree in Building Leadership, also at Friends University, in 2001 and served as Mulvane Middle School’s assistant principal and athletic director for two years before becoming the head principal for sixteen years. One accomplishment I am most proud of while serving as principal, was when the school received the “2015 Kansas Middle School of the Year.” The next year, I was honored to receive KAMSA’s “2016 Middle School Principal of the Year.” In the summer of 2019, the Kansas Juvenile Officers Association recognized the valuable partnership working with School Resource Officers and selected me as their “School Educator of the Year.” I continued my educational journey to gain my District Level Endorsement through Fort Hays State University, and became Stafford’s Superintendent. In my four years there I learned a lot about small town pride; successfully navigated through the state-wide shutdown due to COVID; helped with the purchase of a new activity bus; and completed many capital improvement projects including new HVAC units, and the installation of a new track.
This is my first year as the Superintendent at Caldwell Schools. In my short time here, I have found working with the school board members, the staff, and the students to be the best parts of the job! As the bond projects begin, it is exciting to be a part of a community that invests in their schools!
It’s a great day to be a Caldwell Blue Jay and a South Sumner Outlaw!
My family is a huge part of my life. I’ve been married to my husband and best friend, Ron, for 40 years. Ron graduated from Campus High School in Haysville, earned his Bachelors and Master’s Degrees both from Friends University, and has recently retired from a successful business career in aerospace. Our four daughters, who all graduated from Mulvane, have families and successful careers in education. Ashley, our oldest, teaches science at Winfield High School, lives in Winfield with her husband, Micah (Dexter graduate), and their four children. Whitney, our second daughter, teaches PE in Dexter where she lives with her husband, Zach (Dexter graduate), and their two children. Courtney, the third daughter, lives in Stafford with her husband, Derek (South Haven graduate), is a Career Specialist for Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG-K) in Stafford and in St. John. And Taylor, our youngest, who taught 1 st grade in Wellington for eight years, is now the Udall Elementary Principal and MS/HS Athletic Director.
Traveling, RV camping with family and friends, and being a part of the Praise and Worship team at our church in Mulvane are some of the things I enjoy. But I love family gatherings, spending time with the grandkids and attending their school events.
