It is hard to believe that Christmas break is upon us and the New Year will be coming fast. The elementary students have been focusing on their vocal music program and did a great job performing on the evening of December 11th. Along with this, they are finishing up testing and are very excited about Christmas parties and vacation.

The month of November was very active for the elementary students. The monthly Accelerated Reading party was on November 3rd as they played games and had a healthy snack.  The students watched the all school play on November 9th and then performed at the Veteran’s Day Program on November 10th. The Elementary Site Council met on November 13th to discuss important school issues.  November 15th was a day off of school for the students as the teachers judged senior projects and had educational in-services. The students enjoyed a festive, delicious Thanksgiving meal prepared by the cafeteria staff on November 17th.The event was completed with table settings and decorations prepared by Mrs. Nance and Mrs. Teeter and her classes. The Bluejay Way Assembly was also on November 17th and November students of the month were awarded. These students included: Kindergarten – Brooklyn Wirths, 1st grade – Alyvia Thomas, 2nd grade – Richard Crumbliss, 3rd grade – Jax Noyes, 4th grade – Ava Stanfield and 5th grade – John McVeigh. These students received student of the month for having respectful and responsible behavior, good attendance and exceptional grades.  The students were able to enjoy the wonderful weather over Thanksgiving break from November 22nd through November 24th.

December has been fairly busy also as the monthly Accelerated Party was on December 1st. The Bluejay Way Assembly was on December 8th with the December students of the month. These students were: Kindergarten – Cord Schmidt, 1st grader – James Watson, 2nd grade – Jessie Watson, 3rd grade – Keelen Eaton, 4th grade – Tim Stevenson and 5th grade – Maddy Doyle.  Along with the K-12 vocal music program, the 5th grade band performed on December 11th. The students finished out the semester by having classroom Christmas parties on December 18th.  Winter break will start on December 19th with a noon dismissal and school will resume January 4th, 2018.
