The days are getting shorter, the temperature is dropping, just in time for the Caldwell band to transition from marching to rocking. Dec. 4, 2017 was the highly anticipated CHS/CMS Christmas music concert. The night was jam-packed with second to none talent, even with a quick comedy skit during the intermission period. The show took place in the auditorium and featured a unique show from the CMS band. The percussion section was a little larger than the horned sections, leading to a wide variety of boops and bops that fit in nicely with the balanced brass and woodwind sections. Then to get the ball rolling, a group of Santa-hatted students stormed the stage carrying a steady bell jingle for the awe-struck crowd. The well-known Christmas carol “Jingle Bells” was performed with PVC tubes (Boomwhackers) urging to crowd to laugh at the goofy stunts that made the skit such a great experience for everyone involved. The CHS band was ready to go after getting the crowd riled up, a fast paced version of “Carol of the Bells” was performed showcasing every student’s talent, already being applauded by the crowd, the band continued to execute the show. The Caldwell High School Band wants to let the community know they are collecting new, unwrapped board and card games that are available for purchase at Dollar General or the Nostalgia Nook here in Caldwell. These are intended to be distributed to families in need before Christmas. USD 360 thanks all that came to watch a show that was many months in the making, and would like the wish happy holidays to all and to all, a good night.
